I cannot thank Skip Murphy's enough for helping my son create a great foundation for the rest of his life. He stepped in not knowing what to expect and has been able to learn more about himself than ever before. I highly recommend this program to any young man who wants to build a new life.
Joe, the owner, is sincere and passionate about helping other alcoholics and addicts and their families, in recovery find SOLUTIONS. He is a direct, no B.S. guy with clear passion for moving forward and helping, even if it means sending folks to other recovery resources outside of his own. Joe is friggin awesome. I highly recommend any family struggling with addiction to get in touch with him. Seriously, if you're looking for a solution, get in touch today, he answers the phone!
In early July 2014 I moved into skips. I had had five months of sobriety that ended in a relapse prior to arriving to Portland. From the voice of others I knew skips was the place I needed to be in order to get well. Over the last ten months I have not only been able to stay sober, but I have been taught what will keep me sober. Also taught, shown by example and suggested how to live as a functional member of society. From being honest with others,to cleaning up after myself, eating right or cleaning up wreckage of my past. 23 years old, after many years of living a lifestyle of destruction destruction. Skip murphys helped me put my hand into the care of my higher power and become a young adult with morals, ambition and self respect.
I came to Skip Murphy’s on August 4, 2014 following several attempts at treatment over the course of nearly four years. Skip Murphy’s gave me a new start, and options that I had not had previously. I think that it was the combination of support, structure, fellowship and the 12 step program, as well as working with a sponsor that allowed me to focus on my sobriety. Also, I have been able to make a lot of caring and supportive friendships. I was able to finally get my life back on track at Skip’s: I now have a good job, and I’m straightening out other aspects of my life that had fallen apart during my active addiction. I am very proud to belong to this program, and do my best to represent the name as it has given so much to me. I am very grateful for this opportunity.
What can I say? Skip Murphy's has been exactly what I needed when I needed it. Here I was provided with the guidance and tools necessary to begin me upon my journey of recovery. Immediately upon admittance, I had a good vibe about this place. The staff and clients were friendly, courteous, and clearly had something working in their lives that I needed. I was shown around Portland and made to feel right at home. I was finally surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me and had a solution that they were more than eager to share with me. Unlike places I had been previously, the owner, Joe, personally met with me and helped set up a plan of action. He was much more concerned with how to help rather than if my rent was paid yet. Skip Murphy's has helped me and countless others to find the solution to drug addiction and alcoholism as I'm sure it will for countless others for many years to come.
Over the years, I have spent time in many treatment facilities. I have been at Skip Murphy's for a few months now, and it has been my best experience yet. Skip Murphy's provides an amazing, clean environment, and offers a very personable service with a sincere desire to help men in recovery grow in the twelve steps and rebuild their life and it has helped me and my family immensely. Simply put, if my best friend wanted to get sober and rebuild their life, Skip Murphy's is where I would tell him to go.
I don't know where I would be without the help of Skip Murphy's Sober House. This place has helped me learn how to lead a happy and productive life in sobriety. They have taught me the necessary skills and tools I will need to live my life out of the Sober House. I can't give enough thanks to Chris Gabriel and Joe Riley for all of the time and effort they have put into helping me get my life on track. -Steven Erskine
